Kyoko's bento 2011-03-27 007: Hi this is Kyoko. How are you ? Our children have grown up so that I do not have to make bento anymore. Instead, I have packed this for my lunch with the leftover foods of dinner last night.
Kyoko's bento 2011-04-01 003: Hi this is Kyoko. I love to share this bento with everyone at Hanami-Cherry blossom viewing picnic. I made this bento today, as I'd like to go out under warm spring weathers.
Mahoko Date's spring bento: I bought this bento at a convenience store. Although I seldom buy it, I like a convenience store's bento because it has so many kinds of okazu (items) in the box. I don't think I can make such many items like this bento. I only buy bento when I am very busy and I always thank to those people who do cooking, delivering and selling it, when I eat the bento. I wish everyone would enjoy eating many delicious bento.

Yukio Uno’s bento<br />“Hello. Here is a menu of my bento. Brown/cereal rice from the garden of my friend, grilled chicken and fishcake with miso sauce. The miso is homemade. Boiled asparagus and spring green. Simple ingredients looks vivid in the round shaped bento box. I bought the chopstick with rest in Sendai. My memories are packed in this bento.”

Mitsuo Sato's bento. “Onigiri and egg omelet bento is indispensable item for me to go to the kabuki's premiere. Onigiri made from rice cooked with red bean and green tea. My family makes red bean rice on the first day of every month. I wrap the bento with newspaper to prevents bento become sticky, also it is easy to carry and dispose.”

Eri Hayashi's bento. “A bento with bread! I have started to bake bread again after the quake, as we could not buy bread at supermarkets. This is homemade roll and rolled cabbage, left over from the dinner last night.”
Yukiko Hayashi's bento.  “I realize that ingredient of this bento came from Tohoku and Ibaragi, the worst affected area of the quake/tsunami. They have been provided us  foods and cheer. I really would like to do something for them.”

Mr. Sakaguch's bento. “I was very impressed with the sense of responsibility of Japanese. Some clients of our firm have been victimized of the quake and tsunami. We have learned that they were located in the severe damaged area according to the news. We could not reach them and even not sure they have survived. Few days after the disaster, one of the clients called us from the evacuation center and asked us that if they could extend payment terms as their premises and business have gone with tsunami. I would like to help them to rebuild their community.”

Keizo Takahashi's bento. “I made this bento - Dad chara-ben (character bento) upon a request of my son. It is heartbreaking that many families have been separated by disaster. I hope happy smile would come back soon to those families in Japan.”
Masahiko Miyata's bento. I forgot to bring ‘My hashi ‘(my chopsticks) for lunch. I picked up some branches in the park and quickly made chopsticks with my knife. Seasoned rice with mushroom and vegetable cooked with a dashi soup stock. The dashi  from the nabe dinner last night. My wife made side dishes."

Eiichi Ueki bento. “My wife makes bento for me everyday. It is not gorgeous bento but provides me energy. <br />This bento  contains rice and vegetable from Tohoku, boiled Ikanago fish from Kobe that has recovered the quake disaster. My prayers go to everybody affected by the disaster and wish their health, safety and recovery soon.”

Mizue Nishiyama's bento. “I mixed rice with chopped salted cherry blossom and salted kelp. I wish all the victims of the quake will get back their lifestyle as soon as possible.”

Doshako's bento.  “This is a grandma bento made for grandchild. I made triangle and square shape onigiri. <br />Gradma also cares about all children in the disaster area.”
Kanae Sato's bento. “I bought a scallop bento at Iwate Ginga Plaza then brought it to see Kabuki. The bento contains a lot of scallops. This photo looks dark because Kabuki Theater dims the lighting to save energy. I am from Iwate, the affected area. I will continue to support everybody in the area!”
Bento of Doshako's daughter. “I made these Anpan-man (a popular Japanese cartoon for children) bento for my 1 year old and 2 years old. Anpan-man is to provide us power of courage.”

Kazue Kameyama's bento. “As weather become warmer, I packed lunch in round shaped bento box instead of zip lock bag. Here is the menu of my bento.<br />Rice with pickled plum.  Miso marinated sawara fish (mix white miso and sweet sake made from koji), boiled cabbage, turnip with cod roe and champagne kelp salt sauce, Japanese omelet. I had a half of Hassaku citrus for dessert.”

Akiko Odashima Kikuchi's bento. “My son has to go to work on Saturday. I prepared bento for him. Gyoza , kinpira with colored peppers, boiled bamboo sheet with garden green, edamame, onigiri with hijiki seaweed and radish pickles. I wrapped those with aluminum foil to prevent leaks.”
Yutaka Fujiwara's bento. ”I make a lot of business trip from Tokyo to Kansai. Whenever I catch a bullet train before noon, I always bring brunch to train that has no smell. My favorite brunch bento is tempura topping onigiri from a shop in Tokyo Station. It is moist and refreshing.”

Kiko Matsumoto's bento. “With my wishes to the Tohoku people that they will be able to go to theaters to enjoy performances soon. I made this bento to see the performing art at Shochiku Theater in the afternoon. Onigiri, egg omelet with small pink shrimp, boiled bamboo, chicken meatball with konnyaku, green peas aspic, bamboo skin and mayo. ”

Ball shaped sushi with salmon and sea bass, egg omelet with small pink shrimp, boiled bamboo, green peas aspic, bamboo skin and mayo. ”
Kiko Matsumoto's bento. I made the bento for myself to enjoy it at Shochiku Theater. I was lucky to got a free ticket.Those ingredients are left over of bento that I made since last week. Shigekazu Tanaka's bento. This is today’s Dad bento. Japanese omelet with imitation crab meat, stir fry sausages, Korean style pork and asparagus, lettuce, broccoli, mini-tomato, rice topped with bonito flakes, pickled plum. I will do my best at my work today too.

Today’s Dad bento.<br />Egg omelet with spinach, stir fry sausage, fried chicken wrapped with cheese, Shrimp tempura soaked with sauce, stir fry onion, broccoli, mini tomato, rice, pickled plum and home made chirimen sansho. (simmering dried sardine fry (jako) and fresh sansho pepper)
Shigekazu Tanaka's bento  I could not make Dad bento for a while due to my business trip and vacation but I have started making one today.<br />I will do my best to prepare for the event on May 29. (bento event inviting  Fukushima victims) I am bit anxious it will be rain on 29th.
Ikumi Matsumura's bento. My new life starts again today. So that my bento making has started as well.  Itadakimasu!<br />My favorite is the spicy red konnyaku (jelly-like health food made from a vegetable root).

I made bento and participated the lunch event for myself.  I made wakame seaweed rice. The seaweed is the produce of Tohoku area. I brought sake  from the area to the event.
