We will make a revival in Japan
. Get involved in the ‘Happy Bento Project‘!

Hello! I am Kiko Matsumoto, the organizer of 1000 Happy Bento Project Group.

The massive Tohoku-Kanto Earthquake- Tsunami disaster struck on the 11th March 2011. The disaster survivors and all other Japanese are now trying to recover from the devastation, and return to normal. In this regard we have been wondering how we can support such a cause and cheer ourselves up at the same time. Hence 'Oh ! Bento Labo' decided to launch the 'Happy Bento Project' as follows:

In Japan, there has long been a custom called 'Kagezen'. A meal setting, or a place at the dinner table, is prepared for an absent member of a family, or a friend, who is on a trip or has gone to war, to pray for his or her safe journey and return. Although the custom is now fading out due to progress in transportation and communication, we would like to follow the traditional custom Kagezen by using Bento, a Japanese lunch box, which is now well-known throughout the world. The concept is to pray for the safety of the survivors, and for the rehabilitation of the affected areas, as well as to raise the spirit of everyone.

The requirements are simple and easy: take a photo of your lunch box, the Bento you usually prepare, and send it to us with a message. Moreover, we welcome your participation no matter who you are and where you are in the world. We will continuously upload your photos and your messages on our facebook page: 'Happy Bento Project. http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/event.php?eid=174572255926849 (Japanese Language)

Just like Senbazuru (1000 origami cranes), our goal is to collect 1000 bento photos and messages by March 11, 2012 and like to reach first 300 bench mark by the end of this summer. You can take a picture of the Bento you take to school or the office for example. We also welcome pictures of Kyaraben ! Ultimately, we plan to edit all the photos and messages and post such on You Tube.

If you would like to support our project, please join the group and upload photos in the existing albums with your message. Or or please create your own album, if you wish.
We look forward to your participation!
